Chapter 416
After a few days of peace, Lemira made her way to the team's headquarters, only to discover a film crew had taken over the place. There, under a sunshade, sat Caspian, shades on, exuding his usual arrogance. Just the sight of him soured Lemira's mood instantly. She could almost hear Caspian's smug voice in her head, plotting ways to corner her into submission.
The nerve of that guy, she thought, always lingering like a bad smell.
As soon as Caspian spotted Lemira, he sprang up. "Ah, my dear sister, you've finally graced us with your presence. Fancy a role in the movie? I can make that happen." "I'd rather not. Since when do you have the authority to shoot a movie here, anyway?"
"The school gave its blessing. I've been planning this youth drama about life at Orvin University Team. Think of it as a sweet, coming-of-age story."
Caspian's grin was as infuriating as ever, acting as if their recent quarrel had never happened.
So, this was why it had been so quiet these past few days - he was lying in wait.
"Lemmy, why don't you make a cameo? It'd be a family affair."
Evelina stood nearby, dolled up in a preppy plaid skirt and ponytail, looking every bit the innocent girl.
Lemira's face was a mask of disdain. "Who said we're family?"
Evelina stepped forward, grabbing Lemira's hand. "Lemmy, I know you're still mad at me."
"Get lost!"
Lemira yanked her hand away, sending Evelina dramatically tumbling to the ground.
All eyes turned to them.
Evelina's eyes welled up, ready to play the victim, but Caspian was quick to pull her up, his smile not faltering. "Oh, what happened? Did you trip?" Evelina shrank back. "Lemmy, she pushed me."
"Impossible. Lemira doesn't have the strength to push you over. Must've been your own clumsiness, right?"
Caspian's stare bore into Evelina, a clear warning.
Finally, Evelina nodded, her voice tiny. "I... I tripped on my own."
"That's more like it."
Caspian's smile widened as he turned to Lemira. "See? I'm on your side this time. No more accusations of favoritism, okay?"
Lemira found the whole scene laughable.
Without warning, she slapped Evelina across the face.
Evelina shrieked. "Why would you do that?"
"Why? Do I need a special occasion to smack some sense into you?"
As if Lemira didn't know Evelina's fall was nothing but a charade.
Turning on her heel, Lemira stormed into the headquarters. There was no way she'd play along with their farce.
Outside, Caspian hurriedly had his agents explain to the onlookers that the scene was merely a rehearsal, nothing serious. Evelina, playing the part of the wounded bird, stood beside Caspian. "Caspian, my face is bruised. I can't shoot today." "I understand. We'll take today off. Tomorrow we can continue."
Caspian's tone was soothing. "If your fans or classmates ask about what happened, you know what to say, right?" "I know."
"Good girl. If only Lemira were as obedient as you. Looks like I need to figure out a way to teach her a lesson."
Caspian's voice grew colder.
Evelina seized her chance. "Caspian, if you telkeveryone I'm rehearsing with Lemmy and then she doesn't show up in the film, what then? Maybe we should give her acole."
"There'd be plenty of chances for revenge," she thought.
"That's a good point."
"But I'm afraid Lemmy won't agree."
Caspian's tone turned imperious. "She won't have a choice."
Soon enough, Lemira received a call from the university administration urging her to comply with Caspian's request and accept a role in the film.
As the team captain, Lemira found it impossible to refuse.
Unless she was willing to give up her position.
But why should she sacrifice her dreams for the Langstons?noveldrama
Caspian walked into her office,
looking down at her with a smirket
"I've always said, there are many
way to make someone comply. So, do you yield?"
What do you think?
