Chapter 264
Chapter 264 Who's Your Honey?
"I..." Yvette's face showed a mix of emotions, her thoughts a chaotic mess.
"Don't worry about me. Talk it over with Max, settle on getting married, and work out the terms of the agreement directly with him." "Do you think he'll agree to it?" Yvette asked nervously.
"He will," Isabel said with confidence, believing Max wouldn't just agree but would also be pleased to do so.
From the start, Max had been eager to live with Yvette, mainly to stop Reggie from getting too close to her.
Even though Reggie had repeatedly assured Max that he only saw Yvette as a sister, Max couldn't overlook Reggie's good looks.
No matter how much Reggie tried to explain, Max's unease didn't fade.
Yvette, however, refused to let Max move in. Despite all his efforts to convince her, Max didn't have the courage to force the issue, fearing it might upset her.
Now that the chance had arrived, how could Max let it slip through his fingers?
Forget about any formal agreements-he just needed to persuade Yvette into becoming his wife first.
Once they were married, they'd naturally grow closer, and over time, their bond might turn into something lasting.
Eventually, Yvette took Isabel's suggestion and made a three-part deal with Max.
Max didn't hesitate for a second. No matter how unreasonable Yvette's demands seemed, he agreed without complaint. As long as she married him, she would be his, free for him to shape their future as he wanted. Saturday came, marking the day when the two families would finally meet.noveldrama
Yvette dragged Isabel to the taxi, refusing to let her slip away.
Isabel chuckled and said, "Relax, I'm not going to bail halfway. Just calm down and stop worrying."
Still, Isabel couldn't help but feel awkward. Why did she have to be present for this meeting? She was the odd one out-it was honestly embarrassing.
"We've arrived," the taxi driver announced as the car came to a stop. "The fare is 56 dollars."
Once Thomas Sullivan paid the fare and stepped out of the vehicle, he paused in front of the International Grand Hotel, appearing slightly disoriented.
Kate Anderson exited next, lifting her gaze to the grand, lavish building. She stared in awe for a moment before glancing at Yvette. "Are you positive this is the right spot?"
Yvette hesitated, her mouth opening slightly, equally taken aback by how extravagant Max's chosen meeting place was.
A five-star hotel like this must cost a fortune, right?
"Max is really going all out to show off," Yvette mumbled quietly to herself.
Her voice was so soft that neither Thomas nor Kate caught her words, but Isabel, standing nearby, heard her clearly.
Isabel merely shrugged, choosing not to comment. They'd see for themselves soon enough.
"Honey!" Max called out enthusiastically as he emerged from the hotel, a wide grin on his face as he welcomed Yvette and the group.
"Who's your honey?" Yvette muttered under her breath, clearly annoyed.
Max strolled up to Yvette and casually addressed her parents with a cheerful, "Hi, Dad! Hi, Mom!"
"Unbelievable!" Yvette shot him an exasperated look, rolling her eyes in frustration.
Thomas shot Yvette a disapproving glance before addressing Max. "Ahem-well, since what's done is done, you can call us Mom and Dad for now. But what you did was completely out of line. She's been pregnant for months, and we didn't even know." "I'm sorry, Dad. I was wrong to handle things that way-I was immature! But I promise, I'll take good care of Yve from now on and never let anyone bully her." Max's earnest apology left Thomas momentarily at a loss for words. Kate, too, was left speechless, suppressing the many thoughts she wanted to voice.
Both she and Thomas understood Yvette's temperament well enough to guess that it was probably Yvette who had stopped Max from saying anything. Yet, Max had taken full responsibility without hinting at the truth. Realizing this, both Thomas and Kate found their impression of Max improving considerably.
Noticing her parents' anger toward Max had softened, Yvette muttered under her breath, "Well, that's nice to hear. It's a relief if you don't end up bullying me."
Max turned to Yvette with a grin. "That's not happening. If I don't bully you a little, what good am I?"
"Cough, cough " Thomas cleared his throat pointedly.
Meanwhile, the more Kate observed Max, the more impressed she felt. This was what a real man should be like.
"My parents are already waiting inside. We've reserved a private room-let's head in," Max said, taking the lead.
Yvette leaned closer to Max and murmured, "You booked a private room here? Are you loaded or just wasting money?" "Are you worried about my finances?" Max asked with a laugh.
"Who's worried about your money?
Let me make this clear-I may not accept you, but if you're set on contributing to the child's support won't stop you. However, instead of splurging like this, why not use that money on baby formula ando diapers?" Yvette's voice wasn't very loud, but those nearby could still catch parts of their conversation.
"Max, Yve has a point. Young people today tend to live too lavishly,"
Thomas said. "You're about to start
a family, so learning to save is
crucial. Today's just a casual
meeting between our familieel
pick a date—there was no need to choose such an upscale venue."
As Thomas glanced around at the diners, he couldn't help but notice their elegant attire, with a significant number of foreigners among them. Earlier when they arrived, he had
seen the parking lot packed with
luxury vehicles.
It was obvious that those eating here were either wealthy or influential, far beyond what ordinary people like them could afford. "Dad, don't worry about it. We won't be paying for the meal here," Max said, glancing back with a smile.
Hearing this, Isabel suddenly recalled something-the international hotel was owned by Max's family.
"What do you mean we don't have to pay? Is it because you think your looks will cover the bill?" Yvette shot Max a sarcastic look.
Thomas and Kate didn't give much thought to Max's comment, assuming it was just a lighthearted joke, and chuckled in response. Before long, they stepped into the private room and were greeted by Max's parents.
"Hello, it's a pleasure to meet you," they said warmly.
"Nice to meet you too. I'm Yve's father..." Thomas responded, and the parents exchanged polite introductions.
Meanwhile, Yvette pulled Isabel aside and whispered so only she could hear, "Wow, Max's parents are so young-they look younger than mine!"
"They must really take care of themselves," Isabel said in response.
It wasn't surprising. Wealthy people often invest more in maintaining their appearance compared to those with fewer resources.
"Should we place the order now?" Chandler Hunt asked as he passed the menu to Thomas and Kate.
"Sure."
Thomas and Kate were taken aback when they saw the menu. Each dish had a price in the four-digit range, except for the vegetarian options, which were in the low three digits. Everything seemed ridiculously overpriced. "Dad, why aren't you ordering?" Yvette asked, leaning over to get a better look at the menu.
"Geez, this is so over the top."
Without warning, Yvette grew irritated and slammed her foot down on Max's.
"Ah!" Max winced in pain, glancing at Yvette and muttering, "What's that for?" Worried someone might hear, Yvette leaned in close to his ear.
What do you think?
