Chapter 29
Chapter 29:
Dolores hadn’t expected that one of the reasons they wanted to ruin her was that they were afraid she would take revenge on them by leaning on the powers and forces of the Nelson Family.
She had not expected this before, but now the situation was different.
What they wanted to set in motion was not only her, but also the baby she was carrying in her womb.
Had it turned out that her concession had just been a symbol of being weak and easily intimidated in their eyes?
“Even if you heard, so what?” Since the secret could no longer be hidden, Beulah decided not to continue the performance.
“Yes. Who do you think you are? You were abandoned by daddy. You’re just a…”
“Why are they so noisy first thing in the morning? You… Why are you here?”
Randolph had intended to reprimand them, but noticing Dolores’ presence, he changed the subject.
Dolores glanced at Beulah and Annabelle, then fixed her gaze on
Randolph: “You want the Repulse Bay lands, don’t you?”.
Randolph was stunned for a moment, “You do?”.
Beulah and Annabelle also fixed their gazes on her with great excitement.
They seemed to be very surprised because Matthew was treating her quite well.
Otherwise, he would not have given her the Repulse Bay contract.
Dolores became aware of all her repressions. It seemed she had to assume Matthew’s authority as her own.
She pretended to be relaxed and her face showed the shyness and happiness that always appeared on the face of a woman in love, “What’s wrong with him giving me a present? We are a couple after all.”
“Impossible!” Annabelle refused to accept it. She had brainwashed herself into thinking that what she had seen before was just an illusion.
Matthew wouldn’t have feelings for Dolores!
Beulah grabbed Annabelle’s shoulders and shook her head, suggesting she not get overly excited.
If Dolores really had gotten the Repulse Bay lands, Randolph would definitely change his attitude toward her.
After all, the Nelson Family was quite powerful.
No doubt, Randolph wanted to have some connections with the Nelson Family and take advantage of them. Besides, Randolph’s company had run into some problems recently.
Predictably, as Dolores finished the words, a long-lost smile came across Randolph’s face, “Have you had breakfast? If you haven’t, how about breakfast here before you go?”.
Randolph was not a person who always wore a serious expression. He had just never smiled at Dolores.
Dolores looked at Randolph, feeling bitter and sad. Seeing that he could still use her, he even changed his attitude towards her, didn’t he?
So in his heart, she was just a person he could use?
He was her biological father, how ironic!
“I’ve had breakfast. I just came to inform you to pack my mother’s wedding gifts and my belongings. I’ll send you the contract tomorrow.”
After finishing the words, he turned and went downstairs. Perhaps the pain in her heart was sharp enough to forget the pain in her knees.
Randolph caught up with her, “Come back. You haven’t eaten at home. Go after breakfast here.”
Dolores turned around and looked him in the eye, “What the hell do you want to do again?”.
The way Randolph did things, he didn’t care about her if he didn’t need her to do something.
Finding himself discovered, Randolph decided not to disguise his intention and said in a much softer voice, “Lola, the company is having some problems now. Can you ask Matthew to help me sort them out?”
Dolores regained her gaze, came down the stairs with one of her hands on the banister and asked casually, “What’s happened to the company?”
“There was a collapse during the construction of one of the buildings we invested in…”
On the one hand, the company was facing a lawsuit; on the other, it had taken a huge toll on the company’s reputation.
All the products in which the company had invested had been repudiated by the public.
The company was almost incapable of recovering the capital.
Even if Dolores gave it the development rights to Repulse Bay, it would have no money to invest in it.
So the biggest concern, for now, was solving the landslide accident.
If Matthew could help him quiet public opinion and use his network of staff to settle the lawsuit, he and the company could get through this crisis.
Dolores looked up, “I can help you, but I have one condition.”
Randolph’s expression froze. He seemed not to have expected her to have the other condition and wondered what it was this time.
His face became uncontrollably grim.
“Take it easy. I don’t want your money. Just return all the ones that belong to me and my mother. I can help you, but…”
“But what…” asked Randolph.
“I’ll help you only if you divorce Beulah.” Randolph found himself in a dilemma.
Dolores said no more about it, for she wanted to see how far her father’s love for that woman would go.
Was that woman more important than the survival of his company?
“Lola…”
“I will not force you to divorce her. Whether you agree to my condition or not is up to you.” Dolores said indifferently.
Would Randolph really love someone?
Randolph was in a dilemma: “Lora, I knew you held a grudge in your heart because I threw you out at the time. But Beulah was pregnant and the checkup showed that it was a boy in her womb, so I…. I…”
“So, you sent Mom and me away. But, did she give birth to a child to you?” Dolores clenched her fists tightly. Did he know that his mother, who was sent away by him, was also pregnant then?
Because of the shock of the divorce, his mother was in a somber mood throughout the pregnancy, which caused the child she gave birth to suffer from autism later in life.
Randolph also felt sorry for this issue: “She had a miscarriage. So it’s so unfair to her if I abandon her now…”
“Your company or Beulah Shawn, take your pick!” Dolores didn’t want to pursue this issue with him. Would it be unfair to Beulah if he divorced her because she was once pregnant with his child?
Then what would happen to his mother?
Did she deserve to be abandoned?
Did the child she gave birth to deserve to suffer from autism?
Was she only asking him to divorce Beulah, but he hesitated because of her past?
But why did he not hesitate considering his husband and wife relationship with her mother as well as his father and daughter relationship with her when he walked away from her and her mother?
Dolores endured the pain in her heart and left the Villa de los Flores.
In the driveway, Sampson was leaning with his back against the car. The warm morning light illuminated him softly, making him appear kind and distant.
Dolores stopped.
Seeing her leaving the villa, Sampson opened the door to the back seats, “Don’t just stand there. Hurry up and get in the car.” Dolores walked over, bent down and climbed into the car.
Sampson closed the door and sat in the driver’s seat. He turned his head to look at her, “Where are you going?”
“To the WY Group.” Dolores leaned her head against the window, “I’m working there.”
Sampson furrowed his eyebrows, “If I can get you a better job…”
“I work there because of my dealings with Matthew.” So he couldn’t leave the company.
About twenty minutes later, the car pulled into the driveway of the WY Group office building.
Sampson got out of the car and went to the door to the back seats, but Dolores had already opened the door. Seeing him heading toward her, she smiled, “I can do it myself.”
Sampson held out a hand, “Don’t you know you’ve hurt yourself? Take good care of yourself. Call me if there’s any trouble.” Dolores nodded and got out of the car.
Just then, a car pulled into the driveway. A tall figure got out of the car and looked at Dolores.
Matthew was standing next to the car and staring coldly at Dolores.
His stare was so unfriendly that even Sampson had noticed it. He took a step forward and stepped in front of Dolores to block her gaze.
Matthew had already gone mad because Dolores hadn’t returned last night.
Just at this moment, Sampson was protecting that woman in his presence.
He felt the anger burning in his heart!
She hadn’t been back all night, and it turned out that she had spent the night with that man?
The more he thought about this, the angrier he became…..
