The CEO’s little ones

Chapter 67

Chapter 67:.

“Well, they’ll have introduced themselves by now, I guess.” Hayden looked at Joseph before shifting his gaze to Freddie, “Do you need to be introduced?”

“No need.” Joseph looked at Freddie with an indecipherable expression on his face. His tone was strangely distorted, “Your future little boyfriend just introduced himself.”

Hayden startled a little and then shot Freddie a look, “Did you just say something else stupid?”

Freddie furrowed his eyebrows in obvious displeasure, but could only sheepishly reply, “What do you mean, I’m spouting nonsense?”

“This is Freddie.” Hayden explained to Joseph, “He’s a cellist, but he’s out of work now.”

“I see, so he’s living off you?”

Joseph gave him a slight look that sounded a little sarcastic.

“Who do you think lives off Hayden? I’m only staying here temporarily, what’s more, I’m signing a new contract with a new company.” Freddie returned Joseph’s look vehemently.

“I hope so.” Hayden shot him a look of utmost helplessness.

“I have to go fix something in the kitchen. You guys can keep talking.”

Just as Freddie was about to go into a lengthy explanation about the fact that he wasn’t actually without income, Joseph quickly picked up the raw food on the floor and dashed into the kitchen before anyone else could.

“What are you doing?” Hayden chased after him.

“Let me help you.”

The two entered the kitchen one after the other as Freddie stood still in the same spot with a petrified expression on his face. As the wrinkles in his eyebrows deepened, he followed in their footsteps: “Let me help you too.”

“The kitchen isn’t very spacious, you’d better not come and cause trouble. Go get Stella.” Hayden ordered in a disgruntled tone as he shut her out of the kitchen by sliding the glass door shut.

Freddie felt a little frustrated, “Don’t keep treating me like a child.”

After slamming and tapping for a while, Hayden suddenly opened the door and shoved a bag full of bean sprouts into his embrace. “Alright, since you’re an adult now, help me pluck the leaves off these bean sprouts.”

Immediately after saying that, he slammed the door shut.

“What?”

Freddie didn’t know what kind of reaction he should show at that moment.

What he really meant was that Hayden should see him as an adult in terms of maturity and not just see him as a mere friend or as his younger brother. His treatment of him would only bring him ridicule, as would that guy’s response.

Joseph was washing tomatoes by the sink and after seeing Hayden kick Freddie out of the kitchen, a sense of relief gripped his heart. His pent up frustration since he had run into that guy had disappeared without a trace.

He was a little surprised at how he was handling his emotion up to this point.

“You should let me wash them since you’re a guest, you can wait outside.”

Hayden discovered to his surprise that Joseph even got his hands dirty to help with his dishes in the kitchen, which made him feel a little sorry for him.

Joseph placed two freshly washed tomatoes on the cutting board as he nonchalantly replied, “No thanks, I have some free time anyway.”

“That’s fine then.”

Hayden had nothing more to say to her.

When all the vegetables had been finely chopped, Joseph still didn’t plan to leave the kitchen. Hayden asked in confusion, “Are you sure you don’t want to go out? There will be a lot of smoke when I start frying these vegetables.”

“Didn’t you say you wanted to teach me how to cook?”.

“Huh? You mean now?”

Hayden was astonished at what she had just said. When they were in the Imperial Village, she had offered to teach him how to cook, but he hadn’t seemed interested at the time. Why would he suddenly offer to be her student now?

“That’s right.”

After getting his affirmation, she was still a little stunned. “Very well, you can watch me while I cook.”

Now she was going to cook stewed chicken wings.

Hayden picked up the glass container holding marinated chicken wings and signaled Joseph to pay attention, “I’m sure you’ve never seen the process of marinating chicken, so I’ll briefly explain how to do it. You make three slits with a knife in the front and back, splash soy sauce on it with a little wine, then put a little ginger on it and make sure the ingredients are evenly distributed by mixing it with a little flour, flip it over and stir it. Then you seal it with plastic wrap while you let it sit in the fridge for an hour. Then we’ll have this final product here.”

“I see.”

“Pour some oil into the wok and let it heat up. Then sprinkle some freshly chopped seasonings in first to create some aroma when frying…”.

As he said that, Hayden threw the onions, ginger and garlic into the wok, and with a loud sizzle, the oil began to boil and react. He unconsciously took a step back and accidentally bumped into Joseph’s broad chest.

“Sorry.” She turned around to apologize, but lost her balance as her legs slipped.

Joseph was able to react quickly by grabbing her around the waist and preventing her from falling to the ground. His cold face had a few layers of tenderness on it as he asked, “Are you okay?”

“I’m… I’m fine.” Hayden gulped.noveldrama

She wasn’t fine, of course, as her heart nearly leapt out of her chest. She could feel his grip on her waist and lifting her face upward, his beautiful face was only inches away. She could even smell the fragrance emanating from his body.

Suddenly, the kitchen door burst open and Freddie yelled, “What the hell are you guys doing?”

Hayden snapped back to reality as he groped to free himself from Joseph. However, her feet were even more slippery now and her entire frame was about to fall to the floor, which only prompted Joseph to hug her tighter.

There was fire in Freddie’s eyes as he roared at Joseph, “Hey, what are you doing, what are you touching? Let go of Hayden.”

Joseph helped Hayden to her feet firmly before nonchalantly releasing her. He looked slightly at Freddie and replied, “I’m showing you why we ended up in that position just now.”

“Y…you’re just taking advantage of her.”

“Freddie, you’d better shut up now.” Hayden glared at him, his face flushed, “I almost fell over a moment ago, and all because of your yelling.”

Freddie wasn’t ready to succumb just yet. He shot a glance at Joseph and said, “I want to learn to cook, too.”

“You’d better not joke with me, how are you going to have time to cook? After signing on with the new company, all your time would be taken up.”

“So, does that guy have a lot of time to do that? Isn’t he the president of a company? Since when does a president need to cook for himself?” Freddie had a look of animosity on his face.

One man knew another man best. If Joseph, the president of a company was here in the home of an employee, looking like he had been doing it a long time, in his deduction this president must have some ulterior motive. If not, he would have his name spelled backwards.

“Hayden was the one who suggested teaching me to cook.” Joseph looked at him blankly, as if victory was already within his grasp.

Off to the side, Hayden got goose bumps when she heard Joseph call her name intimately.

She couldn’t remember since when her relationship with Joseph was so close that he could call her by that name.

Freddie didn’t care what kind of excuses she came up with, she had to stay and learn to cook no matter what. It was getting late and Hayden didn’t have the energy to get into a tug-of-war with him, so he agreed to teach him as well. The two men flanked Hayden as if they were watching her. It was a sight to behold.

“Next, you slowly put all the chicken wings in the wok, but since the oil will splatter, you’d better take a step back.”

After making sure he had reminded her, he slowly poured a plate of chicken wings into the wok. As soon as the wings came in contact with the oil, there was a huge sizzling sound and droplets of oil jumped out.

“Be careful!” Freddie let out an exclamation as he pulled Hayden into a hug. They turned around with Hayden being hugged by him.

On the other hand, Joseph was a little slow on his feet, but he also intended to pull her in. Too bad he couldn’t grab her because Freddie had cut him off by doing it first.

“Hey, what are you doing?” Hayden raged as he shoved Freddie, “You think we’re filming a drama? This is just hot oil, not a land mine, what should I be careful about? You’d better leave now.”
