Chapter 30
Chapter 30:.
The crowd around them went into a rage.
The man’s wife also shouted, “What are you doing?”.
But the next moment, the man, who had been motionless, suddenly started breathing again!
Everyone fell silent.
Seeing that the ambulance had not yet arrived, Nora took an infusion tube from the medicine cabinet and inserted one end into the patient’s chest cavity. The other end she inserted into a latex glove.
She cut an opening a little less than half a centimeter wide in the hard end of the glove. This was to act as a flap to allow air from inside the chest cavity to be easily discharged, while preventing air from the outside from entering.
The breathing of the man on the floor was steadying.
“He’s alive! He’s alive!”
The people around him began to applaud as the man’s wife also sighed in relief. She fell on her butt on the ground as if she had just escaped death by the skin of her teeth as she repeated, “Thank you, thank you…”
There was still not much expression on Nora’s face.
The patient was fine now. He would be fine when the ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital. She got up to leave, but at that moment, Angela shouted sharply,
“Thank you? Simple CPR could have saved him, but she insisted on operating instead.”
Everyone was shocked. “What?”
Angela pulled out her student ID and said, “I’m in my final year of medical school at my university, and I’ll be doing my internship soon. This gentleman here obviously just temporarily lost consciousness and went into shock. CPR would have been enough to resuscitate him. Nora, how were you able to operate on him under those chaotic circumstances?”
She reproached, “All operations must be performed under sterile conditions. Do you know how many germs and bacteria there are here? What if he gets an infection in the wound?”
The man’s wife didn’t buy his one-sided opinion. “But it didn’t work even when you performed CPR for so long. It was this young woman who helped my husband breathe again.”
Angela scoffed, “CPR takes time for the effects to show up. How could he possibly get better in two minutes? If she hadn’t stopped me, your husband would be totally fine now. He wouldn’t have had to lose so much blood.”
The man’s wife frowned. She didn’t know much about medicine, so she felt a little uncertain. However, she said nothing.
Angela spoke again. She said, “What’s more, he’s not even a doctor. He probably dared to mess with her because he’s seen a few episodes of some soap opera about medicine.”
The woman looked at her husband, who was still lying on the floor, breathing calmly. Then she looked at Nora uncertainly and asked, “You’re really not a doctor?”
Nora thought the whole thing was terribly stupid. She said coldly, “Does it matter that he’s a doctor? The point is, he’s still alive.”
Angela replied aggressively, “Of course it matters. He didn’t need surgery. It’s all because you pretended to know more than you really do and messed with him.”
Nora yawned. “It’ll all become clear when the ambulance arrives.”
Unless she exposed her identity as Anti, these people would never believe her, whatever she said.
Angela scoffed and said, “You’d better not go, then. Why don’t you stay here and prove your innocence? Ma’am, I advise you to call the police now. This is an assault.”
As she was making noise, the ambulance arrived very late.
The paramedics rushed to lower the stretcher. A medic who had followed them here rushed over to the patient. After performing a full-body examination, he asked somberly, “Who gave you first aid?”
Angela’s face lit up. She pointed to Nora as she replied, “She’s the one who did it! She’s an idiot who hasn’t even been to school. How dare she operate on someone else…”.
The doctor’s expression instantly became doubtful when she said that. He asked, “He’s never been to school? How did he learn his medical skills, then?”
Before Nora could answer, Angela spoke again. She scoffed, “She probably just blindly copied what they did on TV…. Doctor, it’s illegal to treat someone’s disease without the proper knowledge, isn’t it?”
As soon as he said that, he saw a look of astonishment form on the doctor’s face. He exclaimed, “Can you really perform such a flawless breast drainage operation when you haven’t studied medicine professionally before? And, besides, you’re so young! You must be a genius.”
Angela’s expression of triumph suddenly froze.noveldrama
What, a genius? Did someone like Nora deserve the title ‘genius’?
The corners of Nora’s lips twitched slightly. Any doctor would know common sense first aid like this. How did that make her a genius…?
Next to them, the man’s wife understood immediately after overhearing their conversation. She said, “Doctor, about my husband’s condition…”
The doctor replied, “We would have treated him the same way even if he had been sent to the hospital. Only the equipment would be more professional. There are no chest drainage bottles here, so he could only manage as he did.
Also, it was fortunate that the operation was done in time. Otherwise, due to his inability to breathe, once the asphyxia would have been sustained for a long time, his internal organs would have been damaged.”
When the doctor finished the explanation, he had the others carry the patient to the ambulance.
Only when the man’s wife got into the ambulance did she suddenly realize that she had not yet thanked her husband’s rescuer. However, when she returned, she could no longer find any trace of Nora in the crowd….
When Lawrence came downstairs, the ambulance had already left.
After hearing what had happened from the on-duty personnel, Lawrence asked, “Do you know who the patient is?”
The service personnel responded, “It’s Mr. Anderson from the second highest floor.”
Mr. Anderson?
Lawrence suddenly realized something. His eyes widened and he rushed to grab his cell phone to call Justin. He said, “Mr. Hunt, this is terrible. The person who was feeling ill just a moment ago is Mr. Simon Anderson.”
The Andersons of New York and the Hunts had had a close relationship for generations.
Now that Simon was hospitalized, it was a common courtesy for Justin to visit him.
Justin immediately said, “I’m coming down.”
He went to the study to check on Pete, who was reading. He seemed to be back to his old taciturn temperament.
After alerting Pete that he was going out, Justin left. Before leaving the suite, he wordlessly picked up the dress his son had set aside and tossed it in the trash on his way out.
At the hospital.
When Justin arrived, Simon was still undergoing surgery. His wife, Melissa Anderson, was sitting on the bench outside the operating room door, looking worried.
Justin walked over and greeted her, “Aunt Melissa.”
Melissa’s eyes reddened at the sight of him. She’d rushed over because she’d heard that someone in California had news of her older sister. But when she learned that her sister might have died as long as twenty-three years ago and had left only one daughter, she suddenly became ill and nearly died.
More than twenty years ago, the Andersons’ eldest daughter had run away from home. Since then, she disappeared without a trace.
Over the years, the Andersons had searched high and low for her.
Justin comforted her and said, “Uncle Simon is going to be fine. I already talked to the doctors a moment ago. They said he received timely treatment, so he’s no longer in danger.”
At that mention, Melissa immediately said, “Justin, it was a young lady who saved Simon today. We are indebted to her – can you find out who she is? When Simon’s condition stabilizes, I’d like to pay her a visit and thank her.”
Justin nodded.
After Simon was out of surgery and his condition stabilized, Justin returned to the hotel with Lawrence.
As they were getting out of the car, Lawrence said, “Mr. Hunt, let’s go to the control room and check the cameras to see who this kind soul is.”
