Nora

Chapter 28

Chapter 28:

Pete wanted to tell the truth, but if Nora found out the truth now, she would definitely take him and his sister away, leave his father here alone.

Although he always went against the tyrant, Justin was still a qualified father.

He still remembered how the tyrant always took him to work and to all his meetings when he was a baby…..

Seeing that Mom was about to sign the agreement, in that split second, Pete suddenly grabbed the glass of milk next to him and splashed it all over the papers!

Nora had only written one word when the milk soaked the papers. The ink ran immediately, obviously invalidating the agreement.

Henry cursed angrily, “What are you doing, you little bastard.”

Pete held up the glass with an innocent look and replied, “My hand slipped…”.

Hearing his reply, Angela stormed forward angrily and immediately raised her hand. “You little bastard, you did it on purpose! I’m going to kill you!”

Nora bent down, picked him up and held him protectively in her arms. With a sinister look, she answered them, “How dare you!”.

Lisa braced herself and held Angela back. “I’m sure he didn’t do it on purpose, Angela…”.

Irene also stretched out her arm anxiously. “Why are you getting serious with a five-year-old, Henry? It’s just a contract. Print another copy.”

Henry was terribly furious. He was about to get the deal, but a five-year-old had ruined everything!

Wendy ground her teeth in fury. However, she managed to remain more rational and ordered, “Go back to the Smiths and reprint the agreement.”

Nora narrowed her eyes. She looked down at her daughter in her arms and said, “I’ll send Cherry back to the hotel first.”noveldrama

Even if it was to find her son, there was no way she would allow her daughter to come to any harm.

Henry scoffed, “You sure are pretty protective of a little girl who isn’t even worth a few dollars. We’ll wait for you at the Smiths.”

Nora walked out with Pete in her arms.

Wendy lightly nudged Angela and said, “Take the car and follow your sister to the hotel, Angela. Your father and I will take a cab home.”

Angela stomped her foot and demanded, “Mom, why?”

Wendy lowered her voice and replied, “What if she doesn’t come after we get back to the hotel? Go watch her.”

Only then did Angela finally realize what she meant and hurried after Nora.

On the way to the hotel, Pete sat in the back seat of the car, his eyes lost in deep thought.

He had only temporarily interrupted Mom’s signing of the agreement. If he wanted to destroy the bad guys’ plans, he would have to think of another solution.

He calmly picked up his cell phone and sent a text message to Cherry: “Cherry, are you there? It’s urgent.”

Cherry quickly replied, “I’m here! What’s up?”

With his eyes lowered, Pete continued texting her, “Use Dad’s cell phone and send an anonymous email to Mom. Make it quick! The contents of the email must be…”

Nora’s catlike eyes were slightly downcast. She seemed unperturbed, but in reality waves had long been rippling in her heart and she felt terribly uneasy.

Would her father really tell her where her son was after signing the agreement?

She was still thinking about it when her cell phone suddenly vibrated. She picked it up nonchalantly, but after glancing at it, she froze.

An anonymous email was lying quietly in her mailbox.

There were only a few words in the email:

“I know the whereabouts of your son. Don’t sign the agreement.”

Nora’s gaze immediately turned cold. Who had sent her the email?

She placed the phone horizontally in her lap. Her two cold, pale, slender fingers quickly tapped the phone in an attempt to locate the sender. Suddenly, her eyes widened and her hands jerked back.

He was so close!

It was fortunate that he stopped in time. A little longer and his cell phone would have been forcibly turned off and rendered useless.

Who exactly had sent him the email? In fact, they had gotten Y, the internationally famous hacker, to write firewall software for them.

The authenticity of the email’s content was worthy of consideration, but more importantly, it had suddenly given him a wake-up call.

Nora’s long, slender fingers drummed against the car seat as she thought about everything that had happened during that week after her return to the United States.

Both the Grays and the Smiths seemed to take a keen interest in the small business her mother had left her.

There were definitely secrets she didn’t know about hidden in the company.

The car arrived quickly at the hotel.

“What, you’re not going to sign the agreement anymore?” shouted Angela sharply, “You don’t want to look for your son anymore!”.

Nora raised an eyebrow and scoffed, “I’m not stupid, what if Dad gives me false information after I sign the agreement, how am I supposed to know if it’s true or not?”

Angela stomped her foot in anger. “Nora, how can you go back on your word!”

Nora grabbed Pete’s hand and, eyes lowered, said coldly, “Do you want me to give you the company? Sure. Tell him to find my son and bring him to me first.”

After leaving those words behind, he took Pete’s hand and walked straight into the hotel.

She had barely taken a couple of steps when suddenly she heard someone exclaim, “Wake up! Wake up!”

Her keen doctor’s intuition made her look up sharply. Immediately, she saw a middle-aged man slumped to the side. His face had turned pale and he was clearly no longer breathing.

Nora said to Pete, “You go up first, Cherry. I’ll go take a look.”

On the top floor of the hotel.

Cherry was combing her newly purchased Barbie’s hair.

Justin was sitting on the couch next to her and staring solemnly at his cell phone.

Q, the international hacker, had tried to bypass her cell phone’s firewall just a moment ago. He didn’t know what Q’s purpose was in doing so.

As he pondered this, Cherry picked out a pink tutu dress from Barbie’s row of princess dresses and asked, “How does this one look on her, Daddy?”

Justin, who didn’t dare look, replied, “It looks passable.”

“And this one? It has a lot of pearls and it’s shiny.”

“…It’ll be fine.”

“Dad, you’re so condescending! You haven’t even looked at them.”

Justin looked up to see his son with his hands on his hips. He looked so adorable and very much like a little princess with cheeks puffed out in anger.

“…”

Although Justin liked that his son was animated, he was nevertheless still blinded by his appearance. So, he simply got up and headed for the study. “I’ll go finish up some work.”

He needed some time alone.

He tried to convince himself to accept it. In the end, he consoled himself by telling himself that as long as his son wasn’t wearing a princess dress, everything was fine.

At that moment, Lawrence came in and gave him his report. He said respectfully, “Mr. Hunt, we have returned to investigate Miss Smith.”

Justin sat down and said coldly, “Tell me.”

“Nora Smith has been fat since she was a child. Because of her poor health, she didn’t go to school much.

Five years ago, she couldn’t stand the loneliness and became pregnant by an unknown man before she married. She later gave birth to a daughter. It is said that the Grays disliked her very much, so the Smiths had to send them abroad to get away from the public eye…”

Lawrence frowned as he finished going over the basic information. “However, there is something very strange. There is no information on Miss Smith during her five years overseas. It’s as if someone has erased all traces.”

Anti had become famous three years ago. It was very difficult for someone to acquire medicine in just two years. Besides, her technique was so immaculate, so she must have gone through a great deal of practice.

Lawrence continued and said, “But one thing is for sure: Nora Smith has never learned medicine. Therefore, we can almost rule out the possibility that she is Anti.”

Justin was a little disappointed.

At that moment, Lawrence suddenly heard a voice in his headset. After listening, his expression changed slightly. “Something has gone wrong in the hotel lobby.”
