Nora

Chapter 22

Chapter 22:

Angela said sarcastically, “Did you not understand what I was saying? Unless it’s Dr. Anti, the situation won’t change, no matter who you brought in!”.

Scaring a patient before their operation, and making them nervous in addition to being filled with distrust of their doctor, has no benefit to the operation.

Nora had come with the intention of comforting her aunt from the beginning.

Seeing their pale faces, she was about to utter the name “Anti” when Irene suddenly said, “I trust you, Nora. Let’s get ready for the operation.”

Nora paused.

Angela said sharply, “Silly me. Are you in a hurry to die, too?”

Lisa became even more nervous. “Mom.”

Irene gave her a wry smile and said, “How many doctors have you and your father approached for this operation? No one dares to do it because no one wants to be responsible. Anyway, it’s difficult regardless of who does it, so why worry so much about who the operating surgeon is?”

She would take the risk.

And see if God also thinks this should be the end of her life.

She looked at Lisa and Will then said, “Remember this, Will, Lisa. No matter if the operation is successful or not, this is what I have chosen. It has nothing to do with Nora.”

Nora looked down, her heart warmed.

The door to the room opened and a nurse entered. “Mrs. Black, we will now move you to the operating room.”

Out of the operating room.

After waiting for Irene to be moved to the operating room, Nora decided to head off to make pre-operative preparations. However, as soon as she turned around, she heard Angela’s voice.

“Where are you going, Nora? Now I get it. You must have a bad conscience, so you’re too scared to face what’s going to happen, right? You’re afraid that the Blacks will blame you for Aunt Irene’s death when the hospital staff brings her body out later!

“You can’t leave! You have to stay here and take responsibility for Aunt Irene’s life!”

Nora paused and said slowly, “I have something to attend to.”

Angela scoffed and said, “What do you have that’s more important than Aunt Irene’s life? Why are you so cold-blooded?”

Will, who was listening to the conversation between the two, clenched his fists. His eyes were filled with fierce disappointment.

It didn’t matter if the operation was successful or not, he wasn’t going to put any blame on Nora. But being his wife’s dearest niece, couldn’t he even stay with her during the operation?

Just then, a nurse approached and said, “Can I have your family members sign the medical release form, please?”

Will’s hand shook as he looked at the surgical consent form and the liability waiver form she handed him.

Red-eyed, Lisa’s voice trembled as she asked, “What does this mean?”

Angela stepped forward, her face still wearing a relaxed, happy smile. Obviously, she was not at all concerned about the life of the person in the operating room. She said sarcastically,

“It means that the doctor won’t have to take any responsibility even if he causes the patient’s death during the operation! Aunt Irene’s operation is very difficult. Doctors are not fools; I’m sure they will ask for a waiver of liability form to be signed.”

Lisa’s face paled with fear.

Angela was very pleased. Her eyes rolled slightly and she took the consent form from the nurse. Then, she looked at the section naming the chief surgeon at the bottom as she said, “I want to see who this brave surgeon is to perform Aunt Irene’s operation!”

The operation was destined to fail, but that surgeon had agreed to operate on her aunt, thereby potentially ruining her grand plans to usurp the company. She wanted them ruined!

There was a sinister look in Angela’s eyes, but when she saw who the head surgeon was the next moment, she suddenly froze!

How could this be!

“Anti?” next to her, Lisa exclaimed, “Is this the best surgeon in the world they were talking about a moment ago!”

“What?” Will also exclaimed, “Let me take a look!”

As they both stared at the name of the head surgeon, their eyes began to light up again. Will looked at Nora in surprise and asked, “Nora, how did you get Dr. Anti to do the operation?”noveldrama

Nora looked down and made up a random story. She said, “Anti likes challenging operations, so I tried to email him Aunt Irene’s CT scans. I didn’t expect him to agree.”

Will’s eyes turned red. “I misunderstood you, Nora!”

“It’s okay.”

Nora said dispassionately, “But I really have something pending, so I’m going first.”

The shocked Angela was still frozen in place even after she left, then watched as Lisa and Will signed the forms. Will even cried from how ecstatic he was, and she felt as if she had been made to eat her words.

“Hurry, Doctor Anti is here!”

Several doctors from the hospital entered the operating room. They were representatives that the Dean had carefully selected to observe Anti’s operation. This was a unique opportunity for them.

Dr. Larson, Head of the Department of Neurology, was among them. As he was about to enter the operating room, he suddenly saw Angela and stopped immediately. He shouted to her, “Angela, is that you?”.

Angela came to and greeted him, “Dr. Larson”.

Dr. Larson was Angela’s professor at the university’s medical school.

He asked, “Why are you here?”

Angela was quick to reply, “My aunt is the patient.”

Dr. Larson’s eyes lit up at once and he beckoned her over. The two of them stepped to the side and he asked, “What is your family’s relationship to Anti?”

Angela replied, “My aunt is in serious condition, so the operation is a challenge. Virtually none of the doctors in the U.S. are able to perform it, so I tried to email Anti. Unexpectedly, he actually agreed to take over the operation! Can you also bring me along to observe the operation?”.

An intriguing look filled his eyes.

It was that damn fat lady who had sent the email, but how was Anti to know who the sender was anyway?

Certainly an honor to be able to observe Anti’s surgery!

Enlightened, Dr. Larson said, “So you’re the one who got Anti well – you’ve made a great contribution to the hospital! Of course, I can send you in.”

Angela hurried after Dr. Larson. Among those who were here to observe, apart from the well-known hospital specialists, there were only a few promising PhD students. She was the only student there.

If she became a renowned Doctor, Anthony would definitely no longer find her beneath him!

Nora slipped into the operating room through the side door. As soon as she entered, she saw Lily, her surgical assistant. She had flown to the United States overnight to help out today.

To keep their identities secret, the two of them were the only ones in the dressing room.

Lily put the surgical gown on him. After completing the disinfection procedures, they entered a room in the second hallway. There they met the doctors present to observe the operation.

They had changed relatively quickly and were currently crowding around Angela and chatting.

“To think you actually managed to bring Anti in, Angela! Dr. Larson just told me that he intends to get the hospital and university to focus on your training.”

“Wow, that’s impressive. You will definitely become a well-known surgeon in just a few years!”

“What an honor it is for grad students to observe Anti’s surgery!”

Angela, who was surrounded by them, felt like she was on cloud nine.

Seeing Anti, she rushed over to her and said, “Hello, Dr. Anti. I am the one who sent you the email. Thank you for operating on my aunt. I really admire you, can you give me a chance to become a graduate student under you?”

Nora was puzzled.
