Chapter 13
Chapter 13:.
“That kid … Dad was the one who handled it. He never told me what he did. I don’t know anything…”
The sobbing Angela’s speech was unclear. Since the others were some distance away from her, they could not hear her clearly.
Nora frowned slightly, scaring Angela so much that she spoke again. “I really don’t know! I swear. If I’m lying, get my face marked! Sob…”
Angela had always been vain since she was a child. The fact that she had sworn such a ruthless oath showed that she really didn’t know.
Nora couldn’t hide her disappointment.

She couldn’t be bothered to waste any more time, so she got up and slowly walked out.
As she walked past Justin, Nora thought about how she had been violent a moment ago and had ended up embarrassing Justin.
She wanted to explain, so she looked at Justin.
The man was looking at her too, his eyes were deep and unfathomable.
Nora stood there thinking for a while. After thinking about what to say, her lips parted. However, the moment she opened her mouth, she couldn’t help but yawn.
Justin was speechless.
Next to him, Lawrence was furious. It didn’t matter that he had hit someone, but that he was even now yawning so arrogantly at Mr. Hunt. Was he showing off?
As soon as the thought popped into his mind, the expressionless woman spoke. “I definitely wasn’t trying to provoke you, Mr. Hunt.”
The corners of Lawrence’s lips twitched a little. Only a fool would believe that!
He was about to give her a sarcastic retort when he heard his boss’s icy reply, “…. Uh-huh.”
Lawrence was confused.
After explaining, Nora slowly walked past him.
Justin looked at her from behind and narrowed his eyes.
The woman’s actions a moment ago had been decisive and direct and had not been careless in the least. They were wild and fervent.
But it seemed she hadn’t gotten what she wanted, and she looked a little sad. Her listless appearance made him unexpectedly wish he could help her.
As soon as that thought appeared, he heard Lawrence, who was standing behind him, complain, “Good thing you forbade them to fight. Otherwise, judging by Miss Smith’s skill, that group of rich kids would have taken a beating from you.”
“…”
Lawrence said again to himself, “But surely she misunderstood and thought you were saving her, right? She’s already currying favor with Pete to get close to you. If she misunderstands, it’ll be even harder to get her off your back.”
Justin shot him an icy glare. “You’re too loud.”
Meanwhile, back at the cafe.
Cherry was wearing a small T-shirt, overalls, a cowboy hat and sunglasses, and looked like she was dressed in an endearing hip-hop style.
She walked into the café and picked up her cell phone to discover that Chesty had sent her several text messages.
“You’re here already? You’re already ten minutes late.”
“Are you sure you didn’t run away because you really are a super-cute girl?”.
Cherry was about to respond when she got a call from Chesty. She picked up and said, “I’m here, Chesty! Table 25… 26… 28!”
A terribly bored Chester was already sitting there with three empty glasses in front of him. “Yes, yes, table 28, that’s it. Are you here? Where are you?”
“Look down.”
He looked down and saw a cowboy hat.
His gaze continued down past the hat to see the incredibly familiar face of his nephew, Pete.
Chester was puzzled.
He rubbed his eyes and opened them again: the person in front of him was still there.
He became even more confused, and unconsciously said into the phone, “Leader?”
“I’m here, Chesty.”
Beside him was the boyish voice of his young nephew.
From his cell phone came the familiar voice of a little girl.
The two voices overlapped, causing Chester to slump in his chair as if he had just seen a ghost.
He looked at Cherry in disbelief and stammered, “L-Leader?”
Cherry blinked her big, round eyes. “Uh-huh, it’s me.”
She hadn’t expected Chesty to be her uncle either. The two of them had eaten pizza with her father.
Cherry hung up, climbed into the chair across from him and sat down. Then she said to the waitress, “A glass of milk, please. I’m still growing, so I can’t drink coffee. Thank you.”
Her adorable personality made the waitress’s heart melt into a puddle. “Sure, kiddo. Just a moment.”
Then she quickly ran to get the milk.
Chester felt as if the sky was falling.
Was it really his nephew who had always been clumsy with words?
He was really just faking it when he was going against Justin all this time!
Besides, it was more than enough to have just one member who didn’t do his duties and spent the day playing among the hunters. Pete was the only grandson! He was Justin’s only son!
If only Justin knew he’d been playing with Pete….. Chester swallowed hard. He felt as if he could already see himself in his grave.
Chester shuddered. Suddenly, he thought of something and jumped to his feet, anxious: “Shit! It’s already eight thirty! Justin won’t be long before he’s back! Hurry up and go back upstairs to do your homework, Pete! If you don’t, Justin’s going to kill us both!”.
He threw $30 on the table, grabbed Cherry and took off running as if he were competing in a 100-meter dash.
But as soon as he ran to the entrance, he immediately saw Justin coming out of the bar with a group of bodyguards and waiting for the elevator.
Chester was surprised.
He set Cherry down and immediately said, “Go upstairs to the second floor while I detain Justin. Then hurry up to the top floor! Don’t let anyone find you.”
Without waiting for Cherry to respond, Chester rushed towards Justin as if he was all set for his death. “I need to have a talk with you, Justin.”
Justin asked, “…what kind of talk?”.
Chester braced himself against his icy stare, bit the bullet and said, “A…talk…. heart-to-heart.”
“I’m not free,” Justin said coolly and stepped into the elevator.
Chester followed him. To buy more time, he panickedly pressed the elevator buttons on each floor. “It’ll only take you a little while, Justin…”
Justin narrowed his eyes and said with mild distaste, “You better really have some problem you want to talk to me about.”
“Justin, I think…” Chester racked his brain, but couldn’t think of any problems he had. Finally, he blurted out, “I don’t like women?”
As soon as he said that, even he himself gasped.
What on earth?
What had he just said?
When he saw the contemplative look in Justin’s eyes, he was startled. “No, that’s not what I meant, Justin. I…”
An incoherent Chester said a bunch of things before he finally made it over the hurdle. When they reached the top floor and opened the door, seeing Pete obediently sitting at the desk and studying, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Seeing that Justin had entered the study, he crept up to Pete and winked. “For your sake, I’ve been totally misunderstood…”
A question mark slowly appeared in Pete’s mind as he heard his inexplicable words: ?
Had Uncle Chester gone crazy?
Downstairs.
A bewildered Cherry, who saw her father and uncle enter the elevator, ran after them on her short legs. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it to the elevator.
Had her uncle told her to go to the top floor?
Weren’t there only two presidential suites on the top floor?
It turned out that Dad was the dummy next door that Mom had mentioned?
She was going to go to the top floor to find her father and ask him why he had brought Mom and herself down. Didn’t Dad like her anymore?
With that thought, she stepped into the elevator, stood on tiptoe and pushed the button for the top floor.
